Smileyboots Ceilidh Band

Whether the event is an out and out Barn Dance or Ceilidh or whether it is just an excuse for a knees-up, we keep the party swinging from the beginning. Guests can dance all night, encouraged by Dave, our caller, and our varied repertoire of country dances, or they can take the occasional rest and listen while we dip into our selection of songs and tunes. Our material is taken from the full range of traditional and contemporary sources. With our line up of keyboard, drums, bass and guitar our versatility is our strength.

The Lucy 'Lastic Band

Jane (Accordian), Jon (Guitar), Richard (Fiddle) Sue (Caller)

Specialists in Ceilidh and Folk Dances for Weddings, Parties, Fund-Raising or Fun throughout Western England.

"The Lucy 'Lastic Band" have been around for a couple of years. We have recently changed our line up and have been going from strength to strength. Barn dances are our speciality, and we love doing private functions, weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries - any excuse for a good time. I think that a barn dance is a great way to get people together.

We will play at all sorts of functions, anything that will get people up and dancing. We have done quite a few gigs at our local schools and these have worked well, as the children love to dance. Sue, our caller, is very good with people who know nothing of dancing as she explains the dances comprehensively and enables everybody to have a go.

Not only does Sue do a good job calling but she also plays percussion when we perform to a "listening audience". This is a new venture of ours - we like to just play music sometimes and again love to do parties or perhaps as background music at outdoor functions. We play mostly Scottish and Irish tunes in our own inimitable style, the key element of which is fun.

For further information telephone Jon on 01884 840816 (24 hour answering machine or Jane on 01884 840816 (24 hour answering machine).

'Loose Elastic' (The Lucy 'Lastic band's first CD) is now available, priced £12. It's as near as we could get to our live sound in a studio situation.

The new CD from the Lucy Lastic Band is available now! Titled "Dance til You Drop", it contains tunes played at the correct duration and tempo for country dancing, as well as for listening.

The CD can be purchased directly from us at a cost of £11 including postage. Cheques/Postal Orders are acceptable, payable to J. Palmer at: Big Bear Recordings, 5 Kitwell Street, Uffculme, Cullompton, Devon EX15 3AP
