Fun for Everyone at your Wedding Reception, Anniversary or Birthday Party. Our normal line-up is melodeon, flute, rhythm guitar and bass guitar, but for an extra punch to the sound we can also add a full drum-kit. For larger events, we can hire additional professional sound equipment and lights.

We can also arrange for staging and a marquee if required. In addition to our sound equipment, we also bring a couple of uplighters which add a cosy glow to venues that have harsh lighting, and we can bring along a CD player to plug into our system if you decide to have a break half-way. Jocosity are a four piece Ceilidh band from the Plymouth area which was formed in 2002 from the now defunct Ethnic Bedlam Country Dance Band, which ran for over 35 years around the Plymouth area.

Jocosity’s musical line up consists of Accordion, Piano and Fiddle . The band’s music comprises  traditional dance music from England, Ireland, Scotland and America. Their dynamic caller, sporting his bowler hat and colourful waistcoat, will move your occasion onward in true showman style with his own brand of satirical humour and wit.  Jocosity’s music being a celebration of the finest traditions in English Country Dance.

The bands name was inspired from an old Victorian dictionary, many of it’s entries no longer used today, and giving forth the definition for Jocosity as “Playfully humorous in style".
(Late 17th Century from the Latin Jocosus - Full of joking).

So if a good fun dance is what you want, for whatever the occasion, for beginners or enthusiasts, then Jocosity’s the name.

The Bully Wee Band

The Bully Wee Band, throughout the 70s and early 80s were one of the foremost exponents of acoustic folk/rock music on the scene. In January 2004, over 20 years after their farewell performance, Ian Cutler, Fergus Feely & Colin Reece hit the road again with a reunion tour.  So successful was the 2004 tour that the three have decided to repeat the experience again in January 2005.

Ian and Colin have continued to play together in various formats over the last twenty years appearing on each other’s individual solo albums (Ian’s ‘Slaughterhouse’ in July 2000 and Colin’s ‘Well Kept Secrets’ in September 1985 and ‘No Choice For A Beggar’ March 2001), while Fergus moved back to his native Ireland to pursue careers with La Rue & Dolores Keane.

Ian is currently part of the Kent based band The Hot Rats and tours each year with the now legendary ‘Feast Of Fiddles’ show along with Peter Knight, Phil Beer and many others of the country’s top fiddle players.  Fergus has recently been touring Europe as accompanist to top Irish songwriter and poet Sean Tyrrell.  Colin now follows a successful solo career in the South West of England, occasionally dipping his toe in the glitzier world of show business as guitarist for comedian Jim Davidson.

  THE LEGENDARY 10 SECONDS

Ian Churchward writes:

The Legendary 10 Seconds have had 2 releases on CD on Goldenpathway records "Introducing the Legendary 10 Seconds" and "Chasing Chances" You can download one of my songs from www.goldenpathway.freeserve.co.uk

The style of the music is quite varied but is very much folk influenced due to playing folk rock with my friend Nigel Howells for about the last 6 years. I am currently playing guitar with Nigel in Phoenix and we have just released a Phoenix CD called "Talkin Bout Regenaration" which we are selling at gigs and on the Phoenix website. The Legendary 10 Seconds recordings have also been very much influenced by the Bones of  All Men CD by Phil Picket which features Richard Thompson. I have recorded quite a few tunes which have a medieval/Tudor feel to them. I think that my other tunes probably sound a bit like sixties folk rock. It is probably all a mixture of influences because I have also been recording a lot of new songs and playing guitar in another band called the Morrisons. Have a look at the Morrisons website for information about the various bands I have played in over the last 20 years. My main claim to fame is that the Morrisons had a record played on the John Peel show a couple of times show back in about 1987. The second time he played the record was quite amusing because the record jumped.

The nucleus of the Legendary 10 seconds is myself and my stepson Guy Bolt and we sometimes gets some friends in to help out. I play 6 , 12 string and bass guitar and do pretty much all the vocals. I think Guy did do some backing vocals on one tune once but that hasn't appeared on CD yet. Guy plays drums, percussion, harmonica, keyboards, 6 string and bass guitar. I remember now that getting into folk music all came about when Guy helped out Nigel Howells old band called Storm Force Ten when they needed a drummer at short notice and then the guitarist left and I stepped in. That must have been about 6 years ago.
