Masters of various stringed instruments, in particular the mandolin family, and writers of satirical and topical songs for the BBC. Incredibly mixed repertoire of folk tunes, classical pieces, comical chorus songs, Rachmaninov in ragtime, Texas fiddle tunes, honey toned blues, and step dancing. Saturday 21 January 2006 Stoke Gabriel Orchard Wassail
Wassails songs, Morris dancing, Mummers play, storytelling. “Come and celebrate a centuries old tradition in Stoke Gabriel's community orchard, where locals will be re-enacting the customs of old Twelfth Night. Enjoy a barbeque supper and apple cake under the stars, then see the wassail queen enact the ceremony of wassailing the old apple trees to the tunes of Morris dancing and singing in the orchard. Warm up in the pub, with storytelling late into the night. Meet outside the Victoria and Albert Inn, Stoke Gabriel at 6pm (for the barbeque). Bring a torch and wrap up warmly.” Adults £2, children £1, families £5.

 Since starting in October 2003, the club has acquired a fine collection of regular singers and musicians.  

The club is something of a rarity as it does not charge admission, relying on a collection and proceeds from a raffle held on the night.

Stone Soup - Storytelling

Stone Soup is a community storytelling group based in Plymouth, Devon, UK

All Art Garden events are held at the Art Garden Café, The Parade, The Barbican, Plymouth from 6:30-9:00pm (Unless otherwise stated). These events are suitable for all ages so children are allowed to bring their parents (Unsupervised Adults Discouraged) Admission is FREE but in the true tradition of storytelling the 'Hat' will be passed around.
