| Saturday 28 June 2008 | Concert with John Kirkpatrick John is widely acknowledged as the squeezebox king of English music, and an original and innovative player and accompanist. With an outstanding voice and wide knowledge of English traditional song and music, he is also one of the cleverest songwriters around. He has worked with some of the most prominent bands and figures in the folk and folk/rock scene: Steeleye Span, The Albion Band, Brass Monkey, Martin Carthy and Ashley Hutchings, to name but a few. He has also worked in theatre and on radio for many years. He now runs a dance band, Mr. Gubbins’ Bicycle, works with Chris Parkinson in Sultans of Squeeze, and still finds time to be involved with the Morris side he initiated, Shropshire Bedlams.
