Andy Clarke

"An excellent singer and instrumentalist who performs with the skill and taste of a master craftsman." - Pete Coe

Andy has a repertoire of mainly traditional song from the British Isles including the South West of England. His reputation as a strong performer continues to grow with increasing appearances at folk festivals and folk clubs across England.

Andy's roots go back to the 1960's in his native Devon where he visited many folk song clubs with his father. There he discovered a passion for traditional song. He cut his teeth as a performer in his late teens on the overseas forces folk club circuit and upon his return to the UK he became involved in folk bands in and around Torbay .

As well as performing solo Andy plays guitar and bouzouki in the Mooncoin Ceilidh Band he also collaborates with musicians Steve Turner and Jackie Oates in Wistman’s Wood and helps with the running of a local Folk Club.

He gives various workshops at festivals including accompanying Celtic music and English guitar style in drop D tuning.
