Specialist musical instrument insurance can provide greater protection and value to all musicians. Household policies rarely provide the cover players need. At best cover can be extended for out of home use, but will impose an excess and will not cover theft/loss from unattended vehicles. Specialist insurance will provide such cover. Two such companies are Musicians Insurance Services (website) and Newmoon Insurance Services (website) with premiums for an all risk policy, nil excess and unattended vehicles starting from £15 with Newmoon and £30 with MIS. Both companies can provide liability insurance for musicians with limits up to £5m. Newmoon can also provide Event insurance, covering your costs incurred putting together an event.
