Cyril Tawney - Live Recrdings needed
Recordings of Cyril Tawney's concert and club appearances are needed for inclusion in his Archive, which will be held by the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library at the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, and I wonder if any of your readers/listeners can help. I have already received several very useful items, but there are still some gaps to be filled, particularly by the many traditional songs in his repertoire which were not recorded commercially. If you have ever been tempted by Morris dancing or have past experience Lodestone Border welcomes new recruits. Lodestone Border Morris practises on Thursday nights in Horrabridge Village Hall between 8 and 10 p.m. with the aim of dancing out at local pubs and weekend festivals during the summer months. Lodestone is an adult mixed side who dance in tatter coats, use big sticks and dance with energy and attitude! A bass player (M or F) is required to join 2 others (M/F) who sing lead/backing vocals and play acoustic guitar, fiddle, mandolin & melodeon. As a trio we play acoustic folk and covers and for larger events work with an excellent drummer/percussionist. We perform in Plymouth, South Devon, Torbay and South East Cornwall. We occasionally go further afield into Cornwall, Exeter and Mid & North Devon. We have quality kit and transport. | Exeter Summer Festival 2009 - drummers, percussionists, saxes and brass wanted for Opening Parade at lunchtime Street band open to all adult and secondary school age musicians, coordinated by Wren Music for Exeter City Council. Band will be playing specially written music based on the strong, rootsy drum rhythms of the Westcountry such as Hobby Horse drumbeats - overlaid with brass and reeds to give a lighter feel of circus and carnival. 3 band rehearsals: Fri 22/5, 29/5 and 5/6 5.30-7.00pm.
